Many bespoke lighting suppliers design the luminaire and outsource the metal fabrication to third-party workshops, which adds cost, extends lead times and introduces quality-control risk between handovers. We fabricate the steel housings ourselves, in the same South African facility where we design the lighting and assemble the LED componentry. That means full control over fit, finish, tolerances and timelines. If your project needs a non-standard housing shape, a custom mounting plate, a sector-specific enclosure (IP-rated for outdoor, dust-rated for industrial, vandal-resistant for public spaces), we can fabricate it from scratch as part of the build, with no third-party supplier in the middle.
Yes, regularly. Most of our custom fabrication work comes through lighting specialists, architects and interior designers buying on behalf of their end-clients. We supply technical drawings, photometric modelling, samples and compliance documentation in the formats your project team needs, and we slot into your specification workflow without disruption.
Simple custom variations on existing fittings can be ready in 2 to 3 weeks. More involved bespoke design with prototyping and sample approval typically runs 6 to 10 weeks. Large project orders, complex fabrications or full custom steel housing builds may extend further. Either way, our in-house manufacturing means lead times are significantly shorter than importing custom lighting from overseas, and shorter than competitors who outsource the metalwork. We'll confirm a firm timeline as part of your quote.
For straightforward custom work we don't enforce a strict minimum. Even one-off bespoke fittings are within scope, although unit cost reflects the design and tooling overhead. For larger sectoral projects (multi-unit rollouts across a hospital chain, hospitality group, school network, retail chain or industrial facility), we structure pricing differently. Send us the project scope and we'll quote on the basis of what's right for that brief.
We work with whatever input you have. CAD files, reflected ceiling plans, sketches, moodboards, hand-drawn concepts, or even a verbal brief on a call. Our in-house design team turns the input into technical drawings, photometric models and sample prototypes. If you want to provide DWG or PDF plans we'll work directly from those. If you want to brief us verbally and let us draw the concept, that's fine too.
Yes. For most custom fabrication projects we produce a sample or prototype for client sign-off before committing to full production. This protects both sides: you can verify the look, finish, light output and build quality in person, and we can lock in the final specification before manufacturing. Adjustments at the sample stage are part of the process, not a chargeable extra.

Yes. All View Lighting custom fabrication carries a manufacturer's warranty. Specific terms vary based on the fitting, the application environment and the build specification, and are confirmed in writing with every quote. For project-scale fabrication we also discuss post-installation support and replacement coverage as part of the project agreement.
